Arti Suri

Arti Suri paints from Uttarakhand, where the mountains are never far from view — and never far from her canvases. "I am an artist who likes to express feelings, thoughts, opinions on canvas," she says, and it shows: she has a real thing for peaks and open landscape, and lets them shape both her mood and her palette. Her work moves between acrylic, watercolour and oil pastels, handmade one canvas at a time rather than reached for from a single fixed style.

That range gives her room to hold very different feelings. Kashmir — A dream and Nadiya ke paar lean into longing and memory, quiet journeys rendered in colour, while Pocket full of poises and Affection stay tender and unhurried. Happy buddy-Boomer and Red Rescue let a little warmth and humour in. Across all of them there is the beautiful imperfection of a human hand, working through real ideas.

Suri's art belongs to the community that grew up around Musée Living and the Musée Art Café in Dehradun — the roots that KalaCUBE now carries forward as a home for artists like her.
