Dehradun, India · Visual Art
I'm a housewife having keen interest and passion for art and craft. I focus on paintings including mandala, Madhubani painting on canvas, cloth and paper.
Deepti Gupta is a Dehradun-based artist carrying one of India’s most storied folk traditions into contemporary spaces. With a keen, self-described passion for art and craft, she focuses on paintings that span mandala and Madhubani work rendered by hand on canvas, cloth and paper.
Her KalaCUBE pieces show real range within the tradition. Mayur Mandala, worked in ivory on canvas, reimagines the peacock — India’s national bird — within the sacred geometry of a mandala, while her Madhubani Peacock and small Madhubani canvas carry the detail that only comes from repetition, cultural memory, and an intimate understanding of line and pattern. As her Musée Living feature notes, this is work that values time: the time it takes to learn a pattern and to steady a brush after years of practice.
That reverence for patient, human-made craft is the founding idea of KalaCUBE, the marketplace grown from Musée Living and the Musée Art Café in Dehradun. Deepti’s folk-rooted paintings are made for everyday spaces — and for anyone who wants to live alongside a tradition kept alive by hand.
