“Thriving on passion, never on perfection.”

As a self-taught artist my work majorly reflects abstract painting style using mediums like acrylic, water colour and mix media. Embroidery work, acrylic pouring, palette knife are some of the techniques that I put to use on my canvas. Commission work is always a delight to work on.

Garima Singh is a self-taught abstract painter based in Uttarakhand, working in the visual-art tradition with a restlessly hands-on approach. "My work majorly reflects abstract painting style using mediums like acrylic, water colour and mix media," she writes, adding that "embroidery work, acrylic pouring, palette knife are some of the techniques that I put to use on my canvas." Her guiding line says a lot about her spirit: "thriving on passion, never on perfection."

Her acrylic abstracts carry titles that read like moods — BE-U-TIFUL, Fix It, Selenophile, FACIEM, PASTEL and BREEZE. Her Musée Living feature describes the collection as reading "less like a catalog and more like a diary of moods, half-formed thoughts, and quiet obsessions," where a brushstroke that wavers slightly, or "a line that took a wrong turn and was corrected in real time," becomes one of "the fingerprints of human effort." It is exactly the kind of imperfection she seems to prize over polish. Commission work, she notes, "is always a delight to work on."

Garima is among the artists who came up through the community around Musée Art Café in Dehradun, the Musée Living project behind KalaCUBE. Explore her abstracts and collect your favourite below.
