Manisha Manik

From Haryana, Manisha Manik is a self-taught maker who works across handicraft and visual art with a clear conscience behind every piece. Her practice is rooted in sustainable fashion — a movement that aims to reduce textile waste and environmental depletion — and she builds eco-friendly objects out of materials that might otherwise be discarded. As her own words put it, "a small piece of art can definitely bring the change."

Much of her work takes the form of handmade earrings crafted from paper, from delicate small studs to statement pieces. Each one carries the small variations only a human maker could produce — a slight imperfection in a curve, the deliberate choice of one bead over another — and it is precisely those imperfections that give the work its warmth and integrity, far from mass-market polish.
