Read the editorial feature on Kamal Thapa at the Musée Living Journal. Kamal Thapa has exhibited at Musée Art Café, Dehradun — where KalaCUBE began.

Kamal Thapa is a self-taught drawing artist from Uttarakhand who loves to draw portraits and other work by hand. His is a slow, deliberate practice — the kind that trusts instinct over formula and lets each drawing take shape line by line, shade by shade, through the deliberate movement of a hand guided by intention.

Rather than chasing a single technique, Thapa lets the subject lead, refusing to be pinned down to one tradition. It is work made with both imperfection and intention, and that honesty is exactly what gives a hand-drawn portrait its warmth — the sense that a real person sat, looked and rendered what they saw.

Thapa is part of the community that grew up around Musée Living and the Musée Art Café in Dehradun — the roots that KalaCUBE now carries forward as a home for emerging artists.
