Mrinal Das
Uttrakhand, India · Visual Art
From Uttarakhand, Mrinal Das works almost exclusively in graphite and charcoal, building detailed hand-drawn sketches through patient observation in an age flooded with synthetic imagery. He offers no elaborate artist statement — and, as his Musée Living feature puts it, that silence speaks its own truth.
What he does offer is specificity. His KalaCUBE portfolio ranges across pop culture and portraiture: a Virat Kohli sketch and M.S. Dhoni from the world of cricket, a Rashmika Mandhana study, a charcoal Wonder Woman, a brooding Dark web-series character, and a disarmingly gentle Cute Panda. Each is drawn by hand, mark by mark, with an attention no algorithm can imitate.
KalaCUBE was made for work exactly like this. Born from Musée Living and championed by the Musée Art Café in Dehradun, the marketplace exists to value the human hand and the hours behind every drawing. Mrinal’s graphite portraits are a quiet argument for that craft.
