For Nandani Bhugra, painting is far more than a pastime. "I paint because it brings me so much joy," she says, "and for me it is a sacred healing act of reclaiming my right to be here, my right to express myself and to experience the fullness of my being." That sense of art as devotion and healing runs through everything she makes as a visual artist.
Her subjects reach toward the spiritual and the serene. Works like Kusum Sarovar and Khajuraho Sculpture draw on sacred places and forms, while Equanimity I and Swaroop turn inward toward stillness and self. A devotional portrait, Shri Hit Gaurangi Sharan Ji Maharaj, sits among them, alongside quietly untitled pieces that leave room for the viewer's own response.
Taken together, they form the story her headline promises — "the story of my brushes" — a body of hand-painted work in which each canvas feels like a step in a personal, meditative journey.
